Blessed With Less

Admit it - we all want to be "blessed"! Whether it's with our finances, our health, our relationships, or our faith - we want to travel on the "Blessed" highway.

But what does being "Blessed" really mean? If you ask our society - blessed means MORE. The popular thought is that if you have MORE money, then you've been blessed. If you have MORE health, then you've been blessed. (Faith, Relationships - you get the picture). But what if God were to bless us with LESS instead of more? Is that even possible?

There are a number of things someone can do to stall or eliminate their spiritual growth and progress. And one of those things is to think that the only way God can bless you is through saying YES to all your prayers, wants and desires. The truth of the matter is that more times than not - God (in His Sovereignty) decides to bless us with LESS instead of more.

I have four little kids in my home (7 and under), and as their father, I know the love, wisdom, and benefit that results from me saying "NO" to them. If I were to constantly say YES, they would be spoiled, undisciplined, lazy kids. They would think the world was a huge gum ball machine that they get a prize at every turn of the wheel.

The fact is that God does take great joy in blessing us with MORE. But His love also compels Him to bless us with LESS many times. This is where we discover Faith, Perseverance, Character, Courage, Integrity, Resolve, etc...

So, if at some point today you think that maybe God has given you less than you wanted - then look up; and tell God "Thank You" - because God has truly blessed you!
